About Rich

Rich Pomerantz shooting a photographI have been fascinated by photography since I was seven years old. I was the kid in high school doing all the yearbook photos, at the sidelines with the long lens at all the sporting events, and hogging the art department darkroom before, during and after school. Today I photograph using digital and film cameras for shelter, travel, regional and horticultural magazines, and for leading corporations and advertising agencies looking for insightful, beautiful and thoughtful imagery of gardens, farms, landscapes and people.

Some editorial assignment clients include Garden Design, Traditional Home, Horticulture, Organic Gardening, Runner’s World, Yankee and Cottages and Gardens. Corporate clients include Scott’s (Miracle Gro), McDonald’s, UBS Warburg, White Flower Farm and Holland America Cruise lines, among others. My stock images have appeared almost everywhere, from National Geographic for Kids to the NY Times, to Frommer’s Travel Guide covers to Sunset and other horticultural book publishing companies and Sierra Club calendars.

My stock library of horticultural images is extensive. I license many of these myself, together with my large library of wild horse images from Assateague Island. My lifestyle and more horticultural images are licensed through www.jupiterimages and www.agefotostock.com.

My first book, Wild Horses of the Dunes, depicting the awesome beauty of the wild horses of Assateague Island, was published in 2004 and is in its second printing. My second book is Great Gardens of the Berkshires, available October 2008. A third, Hudson River Valley Farms, will be published in the fall of 2009.
