About

About

My visual mission is based in all things farm and garden related, from the food we eat and the things we grow to the people who love these things and their relationships. My two most recent books, Great Gardens of the Berkshires and Hudson River Valley Farms are projects that grew out of that focus. My photographic interests start with horticultural and agricultural subjects and radiate out from there to include our homes, our personalities, our children, our relationships. Of course it turns out to be about most aspects of our lives, since after all, we are what we eat!

I am equally comfortable in the executive suite or in the garden, with CEOs and lawyers (I used to beee one, as Mrs. Doubtfire says), celebrities, any kind of animal, laborers and children of all ages and stripes. Having worked on farms (I've milked more than my share of cows!) I can discuss with farmers the advantages of a two shift per day milking schedule vs three shifts, or all aspects of the organic paradigm. That gives me a unique rapport and access to create photographs unlike any others.

Whether photographing private homes of all scales, landscape designer work, interiors and people from all walks of life for lifestyle and shelter magazines or for packaging, advertising or private use my clients consistently say how much they appreciate the clarity and ease of working with me.

So that is who I am. Who are you and how can I help tell your story? My capabilities include full production work with sets, crews, lighting and models on location or in the studio right on down to doing a few simple, well-defined shots within a tight budget.
